Scripture
“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.” James 3:13 NKJV
True Wisdom
Wisdom is not measured by clever words but by a life moulded by Christ’s righteousness.
There are two streams of wisdom: self-righteous wisdom and Christ-righteous wisdom.
Wisdom of Self-Righteousness
This kind of wisdom is hidden in the heart yet transparent to the Holy Spirit. But its fruits always show up.
• In the heart: envy and selfish ambition.
• In speech: boasting, striving to prove self-worth.
• In conduct: creating confusion and division among people.
Its root is corrupt, and its nature is:
• Earthly – patterned after an unrenewed mindset- worldly
• Unspiritual – driven by self’s feelings, intellect, and desires.
• Demonic – doing good for self at the expense of another’s name, honor, or life.
Wisdom of Christ’s Righteousness
In contrast, wisdom from above flows not from self-effort but from the finished work of Christ within us.
This wisdom carries heaven’s fragrance:
• Pure – free from hidden agendas.
• Peaceable – reconciles instead of dividing.
• Gentle – invites the Holy Spirit, not striving for self.
• Willing to yield – allows the Spirit the final say, especially in our thoughts, trusting God’s sufficiency.
• Full of mercy and good fruits – flowing from grace, not demanding law.
• Without partiality or hypocrisy – because in Christ’s righteousness we are all one. There are no second-class citizens in the Kingdom of God!
The Contrast in Fruit
• Self-righteousness: breeds envy and strife within, resulting in confusion and division without.
• Christ’s righteousness: produces peace and joy in the Holy Spirit within, resulting in the fruit of righteousness without:
• Christ-honoring– showing brotherly kindness.
• Life-giving – promoting others above self.
• Spirit-filled– submitting to one another in love.

Heavenly Father,

Deliver me from every trace of self-righteousness—envy, boasting, and striving.
Fill me with wisdom from above: pure, peaceable, gentle, merciful, and Spirit-filled.
Let my life be the product of Your righteousness, bringing peace and fruitfulness wherever I go. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
Confession of Faith
Christ is my Wisdom.
I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
I do not walk in envy, strife, or confusion.
I am full of mercy, good fruits, and peace.
I live by wisdom from above—pure, gentle, and Spirit-filled.
