Behold Jesus the Faithful King and experience His trouble free rest !
“Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” And there he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him. Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to dwell there, for the famine was severe in the land. And it came to pass, when he was close to entering Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, “Indeed I know that you are a woman of beautiful countenance. Therefore it will happen, when the Egyptians see you, that they will say, ‘This is his wife’; and they will kill me, but they will let you live.” Genesis 12:7, 10-12 NKJV
Right from the beginning, the temptation from the devil has been to move man from God’s rest.
God’s promise for Abraham was the land of Canaan. (v7). This was the place of rest for Abraham. But, the temptation from the devil was to move Abraham from this rest that God gave him, through a severe“Famine”.
Abraham wanted to move away from the land of rest to Egypt because of the famine. He moved from famine land to the fertile land as he saw Egypt rosier than the land that God showed him. However, as he came close to Egypt, his began to fear in his heart.
Here is the key to discern rest : As he physically moved away from God given land to the land that was fertile, he also spiritually moved from faith to fear.
Not only was there a spiritual decline when he entered Egypt but also he carried with him a huge liability in the person of Hagar when he returned to God’s rest.
My beloved, when you really believe that Jesus is your T’sidkenu( Righteousness), He keeps you from going or doing wrong. He protests you from life long liability.
You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus ! Amen 🙏
