Christ My Transforming Glory!
“And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His ( Jesus) garment. For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”
Matthew 9:20-21 NKJV
This is the same instance of healing as mentioned in Mark 5 but it’s from Mathew’s perspective. The woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of Jesus’ garment for her healing . You may wonder what is so special or unique about the ‘hem’ of the garment. Or what is so special about the hem of Jesus’ garment in particular that the woman believed and confessed and pressed her way through a great crowd that thronged Him despite her physical exhaustion, agony & frailty in order to be healed?
The word “hem” means “fringe or tassel or the border of a garment” It says in Numbers 15:38, “Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners…” These tassels were on the corners of the prayer shawl worn around the neck of the Rabbis during the days of Jesus. Blue thread signified ‘ Righteousness’ . This woman when she touched the hem of His garment, she touched His Righteousness.
Again, why should she touch the hem of Jesus’ garment ?
The answer is found in Malachi 4:2 , “But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves.” The word “wings” in the original Hebrew is the same word for “hem” ( tassel) . Hallelujah! It is not just touching any ‘hem’ . It is touching the “hem” of the Sun of Righteousness who is the Messiah, our Lord Jesus ! PRAISE JESUS !!
My beloved , how can you touch the hem of His garment today ? The word is in your mouth and in your heart . Speak aloud saying , “Lord Jesus ! You are my Righteousness ( my T’sidkenu) *!! Believe and confess, “*I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus “. Surely your steadfast confession will usher in your long awaited miracle today! Amen 🙏
