Grace for you today !
Jesus your Firewall !!
““Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.””
Luke 18:10, 13-14 NKJV
Here are two individuals with two different issues , who came before God . The first person, a Pharisee suffering from self righteousness and another, a Tax collector suffering from guilt due to his malpractices.
The Pharisee thinks he is all fine and good . He feels all great about his achievements . Whereas, the Tax collector being filled with guilt and condemnation seeks God’s forgiveness .
The final equation in the sight of God reads as follows – the Tax collector is justified or declared righteous and the Pharisee is declared as not righteous. Finally, how God evaluates matters the most not what we think.
As I mentioned it yesterday- self righteousness doesn’t make one feel guilty, rather gives a false sense of security of being acceptable with God .
My beloved, the righteousness of Christ is a free gift of God and comes only by believing . This is not achieved rather it is received . Amen 🙏
Praise Jesus !
