Jesus Your Defence and Excellence!
“Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?”” II Chronicles 1:10 NKJV
“Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”” I Kings 3:9 NKJV
Both of the the above verses refer to the same incident. It’s about King Solomon’s prayer to God for wisdom and knowledge.
However, if we closely notice the words used in these verses, we will find that the words are different eventhough they have the same meaning.
In other words, “wisdom and knowledge” is mentioned same as the “understanding heart”. In the original Hebrew , it is written as the “Listening heart” Therefore, wisdom means a listening heart , a heart that is able to hear attentively.
James counsels saying , “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” James 1:19.
We understand that wisdom is quick to hear yet slow to conclude and slow to be emotional.
This might sadly disqualify most of us from being wise.
But the Good news is that you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus & confession of the same diligently, makes one quick to hear & slow to speak – makes you wise ! Amen 🙏
