Jesus Your Defence and Excellence!

“Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭1:25, 27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Survival of the fittest” – this had its origin in science ( animal kingdom) but later on it gained popularity more in the field of commerce & in the lives of men. This phrase refers to a situation in which only the strongest people survive all the onslaught of adverse things, get a chance to continue living to be successful, while other weaklings fail miserably & even cease to exist. This is world’s philosophy and is absolutely opposite to God’s view.

God chooses the foolish and the weak to confront the wise and strong. In this way He brings to nothing that which is highly esteemed by the world.

Long time ago, the Holy Spirit taught me to prefer humility rather than talent. I have found that most often the talented aren’t humble enough whereas the humble learn the skill to soon exhibit talent by receiving the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness.

God invests His time on the lowly, the deserted, orphans, the weak, the foolish and the like , as they continuously rest on His Grace and Righteousness. What sanity is there for God to choose fishermen ( some) who were uneducated and untrained men to be great apostles, whose epistles till date need divine revelation to comprehend ?!
My beloved , Jesus is still seeking such to exhibit His wisdom and strength to the world.
It includes you & I. Amen 🙏

“that no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭1:29-30‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The wisdom of God is foolishness to the world and so also the wisdom of the world is foolishness to God. Both are contrary to each other. The wisdom of this world is focussed on human performance and human endeavour. Whereas the wisdom of God is focussed on God’s performance and Christ’s obedience.

No human being has ever lived who fully obeyed God and fully kept His law all the days of his life. Jesus Christ is the only one who had fully obeyed God all the days of His life on the earth & pleased the Father completely. This Obedience is for us and as us . What is required of us is to simply BELIEVE !

Believe what God has offered to us through His Son, by declaring You and Me as the righteousness of God. If you believe you will confess saying. “ I am the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. “. This is God’s wisdom for us. Amen 🙏

“For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.”‭‭ (I Corinthians‬ ‭1:21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬) “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭1:18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This is amazing ! The world through its wisdom did not know God . The wisdom of this world uses its own logic and philosophy to know God & this pursuit denies them to really know the True God.
Because the wisdom of God contradicts the human logic and philosophy. The true wisdom of God is manifested through the Cross where Christ was crucified.

But the message of Cross is foolishness to the philosophical and logical mind set of the world. To such it is – “what sanity is there for any god to die on the Cross devised by the Romans, which was meant for the most notorious criminals? “ Is Jesus then a notorious criminal deserving the cross ? No sir ! No No No…. Nowhere near to be even called as a criminal .

He came in the flesh and DIED FOR AND DIED AS the most wretched and notorious sinner . That’s why His death has the POWER TO SAVE THE MOST WRETCHED PERSON .
HIS DEATH HAS JUSTIFIED (MADE RIGHTEOUS) THE UNGODLY. ( Romans 4:5).

Paul the Apostle preached exactly this as the Gospel ( Good News ) and was accused & branded as a preacher of “ Hyper Grace “
My beloved, only radical preaching of grace can bring radical transformation & save mankind ! Amen 🙏

“Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.””
‭‭I Kings‬ ‭18:41‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Elijah heard what normally human beings cannot hear. He heard the sound of the abundance of rain coming upon the parched land of Israel where there was heavy drought as a result of famine for over 3 years. In fact there was no sign of any rain rather it was scorching sun. Elijah’s servant attested to this fact saying , “There is nothing “ – verse 43.
This is exactly what is called as “hearing the inaudible decibel”.

My beloved, when wisdom enters you heart you can hear / see which is hidden from the rest of mankind. This kind of wisdom which is called as the excellence of knowledge doesn’t come through the Harvard Business School ( Before his great exaltation, Joseph spent years inside the prison). Also it doesn’t come through one’s experience ( Solomon the wise king was just a teenager when he ascended to the throne of Israel ) Not even seminaries can impart this kind of wisdom ( Elijah spent time in caves and with the widow’s family when he did dynamic miracles ). Wisdom comes only from God Almighty through His Son Jesus who is the Epitome of wisdom & also our Lord is wisdom personified!

Learn to be desperate to have this kind of wisdom – the sure way to Excellence ! Fight the good fight of faith, keep the faith and finish the race by being consistent in your confession, “ I am the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus”.

“My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;” Proverbs‬ ‭2:1-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Observe these words from the above passage- receive, treasure , incline , apply, cry out, lift up your voice, seek & search.
If we have to summarise all these 8 words into one word, it means DESPERATE. That’s exactly how God wants us to be when it comes to gaining wisdom, knowledge and understanding.

Each one of these words calls us for an undivided attention , close attentiveness and full engrossment on WISDOM, which God calls as the most wanted, of highest priority & the chief of all blessings.

King Solomon was desperate for wisdom. No wonder he offered 1000 burnt offerings. It might have taken him the whole night. In comparison it seems ridiculous the way we get tired of confessing “I am the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” – even 10 times in a row. Some of us may need to muster all our strength to just say once .
The reason is that we don’t see the dire need of the hour – Wisdom ! It’s the hearing heart that leads to discernment then decision , leading to execution.
Let’s feverishly confess and keep confessing this great and awesome truth – I am the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, till we see through our tests into testimony, mediocrity into mastery & blunder into brilliance !

“Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”” I Kings‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

An understanding heart is a listening heart. It’s more important to be a listener than a speaker. Therefore, one needs to be a good listener to be wise!

Having said this, the question that you and I should ask ourselves is – Do I discern when listen?
We can be good listeners but are we able to read between lines or rather are we able to read between words? This intent listening is a gift of God.

This is what King Solomon the wise asked God for- a listening heart that can make him to discern and decide correctly.
If you don’t discern well, you need to confess your true identity – I am the righteousness in Christ Jesus. Why?

Because, that’s exactly what King Solomon did. He offered 1000 burnt offerings. Burnt offering refers to God’s righteousness. Yes, Jesus offered Himself as our Burnt offering at the Cross whereby we are made righteous.
Amen 🙏

“Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?”” II Chronicles‬ ‭1:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”” I Kings‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Both of the the above verses refer to the same incident. It’s about King Solomon’s prayer to God for wisdom and knowledge.
However, if we closely notice the words used in these verses, we will find that the words are different eventhough they have the same meaning.

In other words, “wisdom and knowledge” is mentioned same as the “understanding heart”. In the original Hebrew , it is written as the “Listening heart” Therefore, wisdom means a listening heart , a heart that is able to hear attentively.

James counsels saying , “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” James‬ ‭1:19‬.
We understand that wisdom is quick to hear yet slow to conclude and slow to be emotional.
This might sadly disqualify most of us from being wise.

But the Good news is that you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus & confession of the same diligently, makes one quick to hear & slow to speak – makes you wise ! Amen 🙏

“Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men”.
‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:51-52‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus Christ is the epitome of wisdom. He is wisdom personified. Yet, He Himself grew in wisdom. If He Himself increased in wisdom , how much more you & I !

Secondly, of all the blessings God has for us, wisdom takes priority and is of paramount importance in the hierarchy as per the Holy Scriptures.

If God sees this as priority in life, we should feverishly seek wisdom as our priority– the excellence of knowledge every day.
More so for our children in this present evil age, since the Lord Jesus grew in wisdom from childhood.

As we begin this week, I pray that we all increase in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Amen 🙏

“For in much wisdom is much grief, And he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.”
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭1:18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“For wisdom is a defense as money is a defense, But the excellence of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it.” Ecclesiastes‬ ‭7:12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Two contrasting kinds of wisdom and knowledge:
Wisdom and knowledge that come from the world’s principles and wisdom and knowledge that come from God through His Son Jesus Christ.
The Scriptures reveal that increasing in the world directed wisdom and knowledge will cause grief and sorrow whereas wisdom and knowledge directed by God through Jesus Christ protects and imparts life.

Knowledge can be true and application of knowledge may be practical but does it impart life?

Grace and Truth came through Jesus Christ. Grace, who is on the side of the Truth, liberates every soul who receives this Grace. That’s why we proclaim Grace in the person of Jesus, who comes seeking the least, the lost and the last, imparting life, liberating the soul. Every word the Lord Jesus spoke brought hope and liberty .

Even at His death on the cross, one of the thieves was eternally blessed when the Lord spoke saying, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Luke‬ ‭23:43‬ ‭. Is this not imparting life and liberating the soul? ‬‬Indeed it is ! This is the excellence of knowledge. Receive this Jesus and experience the liberating truth. Amen 🙏

“For wisdom is a defense as money is a defense, But the excellence of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it.” Ecclesiastes‬ ‭7:12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

One can have knowledge without wisdom but no one can have wisdom without knowledge. In common definition, Wisdom is the practical application of knowledge. Only when you know , can you then apply what you have known.

Having said this, not all application of knowledge imparts life as mentioned in the above scripture. There is a certain wisdom called “Excellence of knowledge“ that can alone impart life. This is the true definition of wisdom given by God Almighty Himself. WOW!

Oh, how desperately we need this kind of wisdom! Such wisdom can bring complete remedy to the global suffering of mankind including COVID . Because , this wisdom which is excellence of knowledge IMPARTS LIFE.

This wisdom came in the person of Jesus Christ- God’s ultimate solution to every suffering & agony of the desperate humanity.

Receiving Jesus in your heart is the beginning of wisdom. Amen 🙏
